Gray's Leather

Gray's Leather is located at 3401 Nicollet Avenue.

Theme

The mural at Gray’s Leather will focus on the work of Joseph Nicollet.  Nicollet was a French geographer and mathematician who is best known for mapping the Upper Mississippi River basin during the 1830’s.   Nicollet Avenue, Nicollet Island, and Nicollet County are all named after Joseph Nicollet.

Lead Artist - Bernie Gietl

Gietl

Bernie Gietl from Carlinville, Illinois has been painting signs and most of his clothing for 34 years. His career has taken him and his family from Illinois to Wisconsin to California to Oregon and back to Illinois. Bernie is a lettering artist primarily, and on a good day his pictorial work might be considered acceptable. He has participated in Walldog events in Aledo, Jacksonville and Algoma and is anxiously awaiting the Minneapolis Walldog experience in July.

Gietl is currently a full time rural mail carrier in the Carlinville area.

Designer - Randy Szarzynski

Randy has more than two decades of experience as a design professional. He is currently the Creative Director and Co-Founder of MackeySzar Design.
